Debit Card Phone Scam

December 2013

A phone scam is currently occurring whereby customers receive phone calls stating that their debit cards have been deactivated. An automated message tells customers that their debit cards have been locked, deactivated, or temporarily suspended. The automated message may also ask customers to press 1 to unlock the cards (or a similar request). The phone calls have specifically stated the customer’s Bank of Maple Plain or Maple Plain Bank debit card has been suspended however they can be generic, and may not specifically state that the customer’s Bank of Maple Plain debit card has been suspended, or they may state an incorrect Bank name.

These calls are fraudulent and request that the customers input their card numbers, expiration dates, and PINs.

Customers report receiving calls from unknown phone numbers. These numbers can quickly change, however, so you could be contacted from a different number.

If you receive a call such as this, please do not share your debit/credit card or personal information or comply with any of the caller’s requests. If possible, please write down the caller’s phone number and report it immediately to Bank of Maple Plain at (763) 479-1931.

If you have received a call such as this and have given out any information please contact us immediately at (763) 479-1931.
